Organizational Policy Coordinator
Full-Time | Remote (Michigan-based preferred)
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 | Exempt

The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) is seeking an Organizational Policy Coordinator to support a multi-year investment in organizational development and statewide conservation infrastructure.

This role focuses on building clear, practical policies and systems that strengthen MACD internally and can be adapted by Conservation Districts across Michigan. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker and pragmatic problem-solver who enjoys translating real-world needs into usable tools.

This is a three-year grant-funded position, with potential continuation contingent on funding. The position reports directly to the Executive Director. It is a fully remote position with occasional travel within Michigan required (a few times a year or less).

Key Responsibilities
Develop and document organization-wide policies and procedures, including HR, financial, governance, and operational policies.
Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, and toolkits that support consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
Design systems that can be adapted for use by Conservation Districts statewide.
Support surveys, communication, and feedback collection to inform policy development.
Assist in the creation and implementation of an internship program.
Collaborate internally to ensure alignment with organizational goals and grant requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required

Experience working with remote or distributed teams
Access to a remote working environment
Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to listen, synthesize feedback, and build practical systems
Comfort working in evolving environments
Nonprofit or government experience
Familiarity with HR, accounting, and governance policies and best-practices

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, nonprofit management, or public sector governance-related fields
Experience with Conservation Districts or similar local entities
Michigan-based candidates strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with demonstrated organizational results
Competent with Quickbooks Online, Google Drive, Monday.com, and Zeffy
